It's not always about people, it's about their furry companions sometimes too.

Meet Dave (fabulous name!), a black Labrador who I was lucky enough to spend a morning sunrise frolicking around on the beach with! He was incredible!

I always feel like sunrise or sunset shoots with your pets are so good for the soul. Dave's family got to the beach before sunrise and had a small fire going and was just enjoying themselves before the sun came up. We had the whole reach to ourselves, and as you can tell from the amount of sand on Dave's face, he had a great time!

Well, this week Dave's prints have arrived and I can't wait to deliver them to his family! All products come with the corresponding digital image file so I will be sending those out too!

This summer I am offering all my Menagerie Portrait sessions for a £100 booking fee instead of £250. That includes your session, either in studio or at a location of your choice, all your final images retouched and an in personal reveal & ordering session. You can purchase all of them or none, the choice is yours. I have won awards for my animal portraiture so I'm hoping that you will love them though as much as I do creating them. ☺️

So, how do you photograph a black dog at sunrise?! Well, professional cameras (and some others) will have a feature called exposure bracketing. This means that instead of one image, the camera takes 3 - one under exposed, one over and one perfectly exposed. It is in post-production that I combine the tree images to take the perfect exposure of the subject and the perfect exposure of the sky and combine them to give you an amazing image.

Did you know about exposure bracketing? Would you like me to show you a video of creating an exposure bracketed image?

As always, please message me with any questions or just to say hi! I'm always here to help.
