With the turn of the cold weather, I'm mourning the beautiful Summer sunsets a tiny bit.

This is Zoey, with her incredible horse Bear. I managed to capture this as the sun was going down and I love the connection between the two of them.

Believe it or not, Bear was wearing a photography harness. In fact, my harness didn't seem to be in my kit bag, so we fashioned one out of some sash cord. Wearing this means that Zoey still had control of him, but it is easier to edit out and gives beautifully clean lines in the image. In this image, Zoey was holding the rope, but with a little bit of work it can be removed.

To get your pony to lean down for you for poses like this, hiding a carrot in your hand (or other treat) is very helpful, but you must make it look soft and not like you are bribing your friend!

I love equestrian photography. Have you considered being photographed with your horse? Have a look at our Menagerie Gallery to see the other animals we photograph.

As always, please message me with any questions or just to say hi! I'm always here to help!
