shapewear

women's signature portrait, taken by Norwich portrait photographer Claire Howes of Atelier Creative. Norwich.

In less than 48 hours (wooooooo!) I will be on a plane to Venice and I'm so excited!

I am getting to study, first-hand, with Sue Bryce, Kara Marie and Teri Hofford at Castle Cecconi, which is an absolute dream come true! I'm going to be working with them on Empowering Portraiture, Boudoir and Body Positivity which are three very extremely important topics in the world of photography and, as part of that, I'm going to be photographed too!

Now, when I say photographed, I don't just mean a portrait, I mean an implied nude shot in a group, taken by Teri. Oh my.

Part of me can't wait! To be under her instruction and guidance and to feel part of an important piece of work. BUT part of me is petrified! It's safe to say that, since child birth, my figure has not returned yet and, although I'm working on it, it's very much a work in progress.

This has given me even more of a reason to do it. I want to do this for every woman that has ever said to me 'I'd like to loose X amount of weight before you photograph me.' and then trusted me whilst feeling vulnerable in front of my lens to do a good job. I want to empathise with all my clients and understand more about what a privilege it is to photograph them.

That's not to say that I won't be using a little bit of help with some shape wear! It's a fantastic invention! It won't make me smaller (posing and camera angles is the trick to this ) but it will smooth down any lumps and bumps.

I tell all my clients to not only choose their clothing for their portrait session but select the right underwear for underneath it. We want all the attention to sit with the clients face, beautiful expression and connection with the camera. By smoothing out lines on the body, you have less distraction and more focus on the face.

Have you ever considered your underwear options for a photoshoot?

As always, please message me with any questions or just to say hi! I'm always here to help! Also, check out our gorgeous signature gallery for ideas for your own portrait session.
