back from italy

female portrait taken by portrait photographer Claire Howes of Atelier Creative, Norwich.

I am back from the most amazing workshop in North East Italy, fully of love & energy and ready to get my creative juices flowing and put everything into practise!

Last week I had the pleasure of being hosted by Graphistudio at Castle Cecconi for the most amazing workshop with Sue Bryce, Kara Marie, Teri Hofford and Matthew Jordan Smith. If you don't know who these are, please look up their work as they are incredible! Portrait photographers at the top of their game creating beautiful work and I was lucky enough to get some personal time with them.

There's so much to tell you about from my experience and I will do shortly as I post more and more, but one thing I really honed in on was connection and soul. If your images don't have this, they can be the most technically perfect images ever taken, but they don't speak to anyone, don't connect and don't resonate.

I've always strived for technical perfection, and this is important, but there is another side to this coin. Below is a portrait taken with slight motion blur. You don't need to see the subjects face to connect with this. You feel the sun on her skin, you feel her attitude and you feel her.

Have you ever tried this? Get some soul into your portraits this week!

As always, please message me with any questions or just to say hi! I'm always here to help!
