I had a client in the studio yesterday for her pre-shoot consultation and we ended up having a long conversation about Boudoir and how it's changed over time... or has it?

It's interesting because I feel like the world has moved on from Page 3 poses and producing 'racy' shots only for the eyes of your other half, but there are a lot of photographers out there that still shoot that.

I like to think of boudoir as being empowering from my client, whether female or male. For me, it's about creating beautiful artwork for yourself and making you feel incredible in your own skin. I want you to love your pictures and the nuances of your body without the approval of anyone else.

Did you know there's many different types of boudoir? Maybe, for you, it's about feeling like a Grecian Goddess and being posed and lit to show off beautiful shadow detail, maybe it's about being on a black background and having your outline served out with lighting or maybe it's about being backlit with beautiful light that chisels out your features whilst you're wrapped up in a beautiful linen shirt or piece of fabric. That's just three ideas - the list is endless!

Above is an image I took that just screams fairytale to me. It's soft and gentle, yet not all about how much of her body is on show. That's wha boudoir is. It's a mood, a feeling. For me, a feeling of empowerment.

Did you even realise that there are lots of genres of boudoir?

As always, please message me with any questions or just to say hi! I'm always here to help!
