SELF-PORTRAIT

Image of Claire Howes (Atelier Creative) as a self-portrait. She is wearing a black role neck and it's taken on a grey background with her hair flying in the frame.

I think it's so important that from time to time I step in front of the camera myself and create some self-portraits. It's so important to take some time for me to create and document myself.

So often I'm too busy capturing my children or our pets and then I become invisible when I look back in years to come. Most Mummies are guilty of not existing in images but it's so important to take the time out for yourself. What will your children see when they look back in years to come? Will you be present?

I also find it so worthwhile to try out different lighting techniques, styles, and backdrops and just have a play and create something to capture and understand me. I daily strive to improve and hone my craft to benefit the world around me.

So this is me, not hiding behind the camera, experiencing what you experience when you come to me for your portrait session, making my mark on the world.

How are you leaving your mark on the world?
