highly commended from the mpA

Yesterday this picture of Maple was awarded a Highly Commended from the MPA yesterday in their Animal Portrait category.

I took Maple out on a wet day for a walk and got this slightly soggy picture of her - this is her 'why are we out Mum? It's raining' face!

Anyone else have a dog who isn't so keen on the rain?!

People always see pictures of my cain portraiture and say 'well, my dog isn't good off of the lead so we can't do that' and that's not true! Maple never comes off of the lead and in the original of this image she is wearing her collar and lead which is being held by my husband. She's a scent hound - she will take off on a scent and I'd be walking the woods for the next 3 hours!!!

So, please don't worry. Dogs can stay on the lead for their images. It's all in the edit.

Now she's perfected her 'fronts' pose (as seen here) I'm working on her down as Bassets look so cute with their heads and ears on the floor.
