When people think of boudoir, they usually think of the 90s and the Page 3 style of imagery for women. This is what we have been conditioned to believe the word boudoir means, much like when someone says Chianti most people think of bottles of wine in Italian Raffia baskets or a Wedding and it summons the image of a white bride in a church.

Well... boudoir to me means an empowering, intimate portrait between the photographer and the sitter. It's about capturing the subject in a way that makes them feel seen and it allows me to show them their beauty and strength back at them. Yes, sometimes this can involve lingerie and props, but other times it's bare skin and sometimes it's not even their face.

Without going too much into this Client's story, this tattoo means a lot to both her and her husband so I thought it was so important to capture it for her. Our bodies change over time due to age, pregnancy, weight and many other things but this image will always capture the love that they have for each other and I am so privileged to be allowed to photograph this for her.

What's great about imagery like this is that it can be an intimate image just to be seen and captured for you, or it would look amazing blown up on a wall maybe on a glossy acrylic or modern metal print! No one would have to know it was you (unless you wanted them to) but every day you see it, it reminds you of the love you have for yourself, your body, your relationship and your power.
Would you consider an intimate portrait for your home?
