be more like Pamela

Image of Pamela Anderson wearing no make-up

This week Pamela Anderson has been documented in the press for wearing no make-up at Paris Fashion Week with stars such as Jamie Lee Curtis praising her and saying that she has started a 'no make-up revolution'.

She told Elle last year that started going makeup-free after her makeup artist Alexis Vogel sadly died from breast cancer. Anderson said: "She was the best. And since then, I just felt, without Alexis, it's just better for me not to wear makeup."

I wish more people embraced life and became more like Pamela. As women, there's this expectation to wear make-up, cover our skin imperfections and give this 'perfect' appearance is huge and if you don't wear it you're seen as 'lazy'. It makes me feel a bit queasy actually.

Since my girls arrived five years ago, make-up has become one of those things on the list of priorities that I have. For me, it went from something I did religiously and felt I had to do, to now it's something I do when I have time and want to do it. it's not a chore anymore, it's a choice, a luxury just for me - not others.

Yes, unfortunately it's still seen negatively by people for wearing it (just like there's still a stigma towards those raised as male wearing it), but there are so many positives for making my own choices on this. For a start, my Husband knows what I look like without it and I'm not scared to come to bed at night and look like the 'real me'. Secondly, after a long day at the computer I'm not worried about rubbing my eye and smearing mascara everywhere! Thirdly, my girls see me as me and don't feel this pressure to conform. They can choose to wear make-up or not wear it when the time comes, BUT it is most definitely their choice.

When I get a Client who wants to embrace their naked beauty it's powerful in its own special way. They want to be seen just as they are in real life and that's special to them, just like others want to be made up and taken away to a place they have always wanted to embrace.

So, be more like Pamela. Whether it's make-up or something else, do it because you want to, not because you feel like you have to conform for others. It should be about expressing you.
