self-care

Portrait of a woman watching the sunrise in St Marks Square, Italy. Taken by Norwich Portrait Photographer Claire Howes of Atelier Creative.

Sometimes, in life, you are lucky enough to meet the most amazing people and Italy was no exception. I met some incredible women who use photography in a whole variety of ways to enrich other peoples lives and their own. Anna is one of these people. HeardinLondon Photography

Initially, I was drawn to her amazing posing style. She can get her subject to light up with their expressions using fabulous story-telling to get the exact expressions she wants to capture in their imagery. To watch her work her shooting space was a treat and her results in her imagery really reflect her talent in this area.

Apart from her incredible photography, she is the most lovely person you will meet. A suffer with long-covid, she doesn't let it get her down and she even helps others on how to deal with covid and it's symptoms and, unfortunately, a few did on our trip.

On my second day in Italy, I became very much overwhelmed with what was going on around me. I was in a room with some of the world-best photographers and when the spotlight was shone on me, I crumbled inside. I got Imposter Syndrome, as many of us do, and didn't want to photograph in front of them as I didn't feel worthy to be in that room. It was so overwhelming and difficult to navigate, but then I realised that the room was full of supporting, loving peers of mine who did value me and my work and that's such an incredible feeling.

It was when I was at my lowest, that Anna approached me to check on me and also mentioned her Self-Care School. She councils and coaches people through their emotions and blocks to become at peace within yourself to improve your mental wellbeing and productivity.

Upon returning home, I decided to sign up to one of her workshops. She incredible in that you can pay for them or have them free depending on where you are financially. She doesn't want to deny anyone the support and she also finds others to overpay to support those in need also. What an amazing system and support group she has!

Well, let me tell you, her coaching is phenomenal. Subjects coming up were things we all deal with - I don't have enough hours in the day, I don't feel worthy, I've failed to achieve what I set out to do.

I'm so pleased to have tried Anna's coaching and will definitely continue to improve myself and how I deal with situations and, ultimately, treat myself in the long-term in order to achieve my goals.

If you are interested in attending one of her classes, she has an online workshop next week, https://www.selfcareschool.co.uk/p/the-six-month-life-audit . It’s £17 for the workshop, concessions are £7 or, if you really can't afford it but feel like you need it, it's complimentary. Please consider attending, it will make such a difference to your self-care.

Oh and, by the way, I had the pleasure of photographing her in Venice. She's incredible, what do you think?

As always, please message me with any questions or just to say hi! I'm always here to help!
