a happy accident
Last week I was lucky enough to photograph this beauty! Meet Victor. He's the most beautiful (and tall!) horse I've ever met! He's an old boy but so full of character and life still, so much fun to spend some time with.
He lives in a gorgeous yard with epic sunsets in the background, so it made perfect sense to use this gorgeous setting to get some beautiful shots of him.
Now, if you you've ever shot at Golden Hour (the hazy light time before sunset) you will know that it happens very quickly. VERY quickly! So I was there early, ahead of time, to set up and location scout so we had a plan for all our snaps during Golden Hour. However, I turned on my camera.... and my lens showed a fault! I wanted to cry.
Luckily, I always carry backup equipment and had a spare lens with me, but it was more suitable for close up detail than full portraits and decided to use the time wisely. Although, not the perfect portrait, this close up of Victor in the sunset is beautiful and something that wouldn't have been achieved if it wasn't for my lens hiccup.
I will reshoot Victor's session so we get some gorgeous full body portraits, but in the meantime, I'm enjoying seeing Victor from close up and a different angle. Sometimes the best results come from a happy accident.
Do you like close ups? Or do you prefer full portraits?
As always, please message me with any questions or just to say hi! I'm always here to help!
