12 IN 12: A BELATED SELF-PORTRAIT

April has been a tricky month here. Not only has it been Easter holidays we have had some interesting things happening in our house that has taken me a little bit away from my photography.

I shot this self-portrait back in April but I've only had the time to sit down and edit it today - I hope you like it.

This mask I picked up on the streets of Venice last Summer and I always knew that I wanted to use it, but didn't know how. Well, with April being as it has been it seemed like the perfect opportunity.

Sometimes we feel so stripped bare yet wear a mask to keep ourselves going. We are very vulnerable but we put on a brave face and keep putting one foot in front of the other. That's what this image says to me. I'm very much naked, stripped bare, but I've got my armour on and I'm ready to battle through it all.

Resilience for me is always about how I pick myself up again and am stronger and kinder to myself because of it.
